Most individuals who have received a DUI/DWI since 2011 have needed Ignition Interlock. Minnesota State Law requires that all High Alcohol Test 1st Time DUI's and anyone who has had multiple DUI's must have Ignition Interlock in order to drive legally. The requirements under Minnesota State Law are:

  • 1st Time DUI under .16 - 90 License Revocation, Limited License Available, No Interlock Required
  • 1st Time DUI over .16 - 1 Year Revocation, No Limited License, Interlock Required to Drive
  • 2nd Time DUI Under .16 - 1 Year Revocation, No Limited License, Interlock Required to Drive
  • 2nd Time DUI over .16 - 2 Year Revocation, No Limited License, Interlock Required to Drive
  • 3rd Time DUI/10 Years - 3 Year Cancellation, Limited License for 1st Year, MANDATORY Interlock
  • 4th & Greater DUI - At least 3 year Cancel, Limited License for 1st Year,   MANDATORY Interlock
